Job site links the rich and the poor - !

Various Job search sites like naukri, monstor and jobsahead handles a large share of all recruitments happening in India. Employer's first choice for reaching out to jobseekers is Job search sites.

But these Jobsites provide opportunities only for all white collar jobseekers. A large portion of unskilled workers like cooks, maids, drivers, office helpers etc. is not addressed by these jobsearch sites.

It’s a problem Babajob, based in Bangalore, hopes to solve. The site helps the city’s unskilled workers find work using an online social network. Babajob is based on the simple idea that everyone deserves to get a better job – even if you can’t read English and work in another’s home.

Babajob was launched by a former Microsoft employee Sean Blagsvedt (See picture), who was transferred from the company’s Redmond, Washington, headquarters to India. The website resulted in part from the software company’s efforts to encourage India’s high tech workers to explore ways to use technology to help the poor, and has plans to expand throughout India.

Many of the people who might be hired through may not have access to a computer or phone, and so their accounts can be managed by a friend, relative, NGO or even a cyber-café operator – called a mentor. Whenever someone is hired by a paying employer, their mentor earns Rs 200.

As of May 2009, we've has registered over 61,000 total users.

So if you know any such unskilled worker seeking for job, please take out some time and help them connect with prospective employers.
